Canine Officer Ptlm. Donald Rambo
Ptlm. Rambo has been with this Department since 1993. In addition to his regular duties, he is a canine officer. He currently works with a dog cross-trained in patrol work and explosive detection.
ALDO
Aldo is a German shepherd who was imported from Czech Republic and is the first explosive detection dog in a Salem County Law Enforcement Agency. He was purchased through the support and a donation from PSEG.
Ptlm. Rambo and Aldo graduated from the New Jersey State Police K-9 Academy in March 2003 after 20 weeks and more than 800 hours of initial training. He is trained in explosive detection, criminal apprehension, tracking of missing persons, evidence searches, urban search and rescue as a first responder, article searches and handler protection.
Ptlm. Rambo and his canine are often used for educational purposes. Aldo is available to schools and community organizations for demonstrations of his skills.
In Memory of Baker who passed October 2003

Baker & Ptlm. Donald Rambo
Baker was a German Sheppard who was donated to this Department by a Department of Corrections officer Joe Nicholas. Baker was named after Frederick Baker from Bay Side State Prison, who was killed in the line of duty. Department of Corrections rescued Baker after he was left tied to a tree by the original owners, when they moved.
Baker was used for both enforcement purposes and educational purposes. We also worked with Salem County Narcotics Task Force.
Ptlm. Rambo and Baker graduated from New Jersey State Police K-9 Academy in June 1999 after 10 weeks and more than 400 hours of initial training. Baker is trained to detect six different narcotics scents. This team also worked with the Salem County Narcotics Task Force.
Baker passed away in October 2003.
